The result of an evolution in watchmaking technology. The stainless-steel case undergoes a complex vulcanization process that leaves it with a matte-black rubber coating. This makes the watch, which is pressure-resistant to 12 bar, a joy to see and feel: as black as the lava on the volcanic islands and as white as the clouds in which they are often shrouded.
The Aquatimer Chronograph Edition Galapagos Islands makes a statement about a partnership for the environment which IWC Schaffhausen has entered into with the Galapagos-based Charles Darwin Foundation. For 50 years now, the Foundation has been making visitors aware of the archipelago’s uniqueness and providing them with guidelines to ecologically sound behaviour. At the same time, it keeps watch to ensure that the waters are not plundered and that the animals do not fall victim to poachers or predators imported from elsewhere. IWC supports the work of the Foundation with a sizeable contribution generated by proceeds from the sale of the Aquatimer Chronograph Edition Galapagos Islands. This Aquatimer is the result of an evolution in watchmaking technology. The stainless-steel case undergoes a complex vulcanization process that leaves it with a matte-black rubber coating. This makes the watch, which is pressure-resistant to 12 bar, a joy to see and feel: as black as the lava on the volcanic islands and as white as the mist in which they are often shrouded.

This ia a great watch and kind of special, i am lucky that i own one of this watch.
ditto
I preferred the design of the previous Aquatimer family; "they were IWC". The new ones are "nice", but look just like most other dive watches.
schön, aber die 3536 GST in Titan... besser wird es nimmer!
First I wanted an IWC Chronograph (Pilot). But the Galapagos is very unique, comfortable to wear and there are not many available!
very nice watch , i would like to know how much its price? many thanks
It's a pleasure to use it everyday...
EXCELLENT watches I've already the last Qusteaou and the new BLUE ORANGE aquatimer.
Awaiting on June the new collection of aquatimer!!!!
every day a renewed pleasure to wear it.
Is this watch a good investment? Rubber isn't the most durable material out there. It will eventually crack. Since the watch case is covered in this rubber, what happens when it cracks? With Stainless steel, it can be polished and can essentially last forever.
how much do i buy in bangkok
Is the movement for this watch assembled by IWC or outsourced to ETA? Since it's a special edition, one would hope that it the ETA based movement is still assembled in-house...I know there's probably no difference, it's just the perception though...
Dear Mr. Chee,
Thank you for your question. I hope the following statement answers your question.
High-quality ETA movements are used for the entry-level segment. We have found ourselves in a period of transition ever since the policy decision by ETA not to supply ébauches (i.e.movement kits), but only fully assembled movements in the longer term. As a result, since mid-2007, we have also been installing fully assembled movements, manufactured by ETA to our standards and specifications, in addition to our own calibres assembled by us and based on the Valjoux 7750 ébauche. The number of ébauches supplied has been decreasing steadily since then, and deliveries will cease altogether this year. However, because all the modification measures required by IWC have been incorporated into ETA’s production techniques, the complete movements also embody the latest developments and conform to IWC’s high quality standards. Regardless of whether the ébauche is assembled by IWC or a fully assembled movement is supplied by ETA, every individual movement is subjected to IWC’s comprehensive and exacting testing procedures.
We regard an IWC watch as an oeuvre, in which – alongside the movement – form and design, the choice of exclusive materials and outstanding ease of use combine to ensure that our timepieces represent a precision product of the highest quality across all price categories.
Best Wishes from Schaffhausen!
