Carmelo Anthony

Brooklyn native Carmelo Anthony, better known as “Melo” to his friends and family, is a 6-time NBA All-Star and NCAA Champion. Beginning his NBA career with the Denver Nuggets, Melo returned to his hometown to join the legendary New York Knicks.

As a member of the USA Basketball Men’s National Team, Melo won a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics and a gold medal at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

His career goes far beyond Madison Square Garden, home of the Knicks. A fashion icon across the globe, Melo is a fixture at major Fashion Week events, such as the annual Met Ball, and seen as a driving force of fashion both on and off the court. A haute horlogerie connoisseur, he is a partner in the luxury watch publication Haute Time.

“It’s the different facets of life that I really enjoy. I love art, I love fashion, I love music, but it all intertwines with each other at the same time. I wouldn’t have been able to do that without being here in New York City. When you fly over New York, and you get off the plane and walk outside, it’s that New York minute – that air, that energy. New York is where everybody comes – whether its sports, fashion, art, business. If you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere.”

As an homage to the city he calls home and to his love of IWC Schaffhausen, Melo shares his favorite spots in the city that never sleeps. Discover some of Carmelo Anthony’s New York haunts, all featured in the latest episode of Globetrotter New York series.
