Friend of the Brand Humberto Tan cuts the ribbon at the Grand Opening of the IWC Boutique Amsterdam
Amsterdam, 25 April 2014 – IWC Schaffhausen has chosen the city of Amsterdam for its first boutique in the Netherlands, pinpointing 49 PC Hooftstraat as the preferred location. The boutique’s interior conveys a strong sense of the brand’s heritage and innovation, underscoring the Swiss watchmaker’s passion for traditional craftsmanship and precision engineering. IWC is the first watch company to offer its products in a monobrand boutique on this renowned and luxurious shopping street.
“Selecting PC Hooftstraat in Amsterdam as a location for our first IWC boutique in the Netherlands was a logical decision. There are a large number of leading luxury brands already established on this luxury shopping street. In addition, the nearby museums attract many tourists, who also make use of this culturally appealing area for shopping. With IWC’s strong position in the Dutch market, we are proud to open our first boutique at this prestigious address,” explains Robert Pennartz, Regional Director IWC Benelux & Scandinavia.

IWC’s in-house architects created the exclusive and contemporary design of this boutique. The modern interior, featuring dark wood, leather and chrome, comes across as both masculine and welcoming, combining technical finishes with a warm and club-like atmosphere. Located on the first floor, the comfortable VIP lounge features a library and a fireplace offering the perfect setting for contemplation of IWC’s superb timepieces.
In the IWC boutique, guests are invited to experience the fascinating worlds of the IWC watch families come to life. Each collection has its own universe and is part of the manufacturer’s long tradition of fine watchmaking. In addition to the newly launched Aquatimer collection, watch aficionados can discover iconic Portuguese and Pilot’s Watches, as well as the Ingenieur and Portofino collections. The absolute highlight for IWC watch aficionados will be a selection of Boutique Exclusive Editions, sold exclusively through IWC’s retail network and not previously available in the Netherlands.
To mark the inauguration of its first boutique in Amsterdam, IWC Schaffhausen has released a special-edition watch – the Portuguese Yacht Club “Amsterdam 2014” (Ref. IW390209). This limited edition consists of five timepieces sold exclusively at the IWC boutique in Amsterdam. The robust, sporty watch featuring a flyback chronograph has a 45.4-millimetre case in red gold and a black rubber strap. In addition, it boasts all the precision of nautical instruments and exudes perfection down to the tiniest detail. The case back bears the well-known three white crosses found on the coat of arms of the city of Amsterdam.
