Hong Kong, 10 October 2013 – The Swiss luxury watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen unveils its redesigned 1881 Heritage Flagship Boutique Hong Kong. After extensive refurbishment, the new boutique features a stunning entrance showcasing IWC’s haute horlogerie and a mesmerizing LED-glass movement animation. Watch connoisseurs who appreciate the art and craftsmanship of fine timepieces will be sure to have a unique experience.
“Since its opening in 2009, the 1881 Heritage Flagship Boutique Hong Kong is an outstanding example within our set of more than 60 IWC boutiques around the world,” says Georges Kern, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen. “The redesign expresses the company’s sophisticated spirit and philosophy and fully embraces Hong Kong’s unique culture of ‘East meets West’. This exemplary vision further guides our retail experience and establishes a new approach for our other boutiques around the world.”
The new Flagship reaffirms the company’s special relationship with the Asian market. “Asia continues to be a highly attractive market to IWC. Our first Flagship Boutique worldwide opened in Hong Kong and I proudly acknowledge that the Flagship Boutique Hong Kong is once again furthering and consolidating our standing around the globe,” said Benoit de Clerck, Managing Director of IWC North East Asia.

In the entrance area, the visitor is greeted by an eye-catching LED-glass animation displaying exquisite IWC Schaffhausen watch movements. Developed by IWC’s own in-house architects, a dazzling animation reflects the watchmaker’s imaginative process and their dedication to the smallest detail.
For the first time, the 1881 Heritage Flagship Boutique Hong Kong presents IWC’s most complicated timepiece – the Portuguese Sidérale Scafusia (Ref. 5041). As the first IWC watch to feature a patented constant-force tourbillon and individually calculated astronomical displays, it also combines multiple functions such as sidereal time, a perpetual calendar and a customized celestial chart. As such, the Sidérale watch – like every IWC timepiece – is unmistakably unique.
To celebrate the reopening, IWC introduces the new Portuguese Chronograph Classic (Ref. 3904). Despite its decidedly classic design and pure elegance, the redesigned watch maintains a discernibly independent and strong character. Only the second chronograph to join the Portuguese collection, it preserves the identity and cultural heritage of the legendary originals of the 1930s while boldly asserting a new tradition. The Portuguese Chronograph Classic is available in 18-carat red gold or stainless steel, both with a silver-plated or slate-coloured dial.
The IWC 1881 Heritage Flagship Boutique Hong Kong continues to reveal compelling insights into the IWC brand and its values while taking its valued guests on an inspirational voyage into the fascinating and multifaceted worlds of luxury watchmaking and design.
