In the run-up to the Christmas holidays, IWC organized a reading from the celebrated book at its Rome boutique on Piazza di Spagna honoured by the attendance of Pierfrancesco Favino, Italian actor and IWC Friend of the Brand.
Inside its Rome boutique, which was festively decorated for the Christmas celebrations, IWC offered guests a cocktail specially created in honour of the famous pilot and writer. A select group of IWC watch enthusiasts were presented with this year’s special editions, the Pilot’s Watch Mark XVII Edition “Le Petit Prince” (Ref. IW326506) in stainless steel, limited to 1,000 watches, and the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition “Le Petit Prince” (Ref. IW502802) in red gold, limited to 270 watches. Part of the proceeds from the watches will go towards the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation, which supports educational projects around the world. This year, IWC’s donations help contribute to the building of a school with a library in Cambodia.
Honoured guest and renowned actor Pierfrancesco Favino read extracts from the famous novella “The Little Prince”, and the guests were instantly captivated: the children attending with their parents could not tear their attention away from the actor who entertained them for over an hour. “The evening allowed us to honour Antoine de Saint-Exupéry as the great writer and humanist he was. A man from whom we, as a brand, draw much inspiration and who has remained a paragon of courage, pioneering spirit and passion to this day,” says Beppe Ambrosini, Brand Manager of IWC Italy. “IWC has a long tradition of manufacturing pilot’s watches. We feel bound to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry by our shared ideas and common values. As a company with a strong sense of social responsibility, IWC is proud to have been partner of the Saint-Exupéry – d’Agay Estate since 2006.”
