I've placed a deposit on a steel Portofino
Delivery time, I am told, is September. If anyone in Schaffhausen wishes to send a batch to London earlier, I should be very grateful. The last time I committed to a watch without seeing one first was in 2005. I have no regrets about my CFI and I suspect, I shall feel the same about the Portofino.

I did...
I put a quiz on the German forum to guess which one, only one member guessed right so far. Most think it is the steel Da Vinci because I wrote so favorably about it a few times. This shows how strong opinions are built by repeating a message.
At the SIHH I noticed a less than perfect readability of the Da Vinci, perhaps due to the special light circumstances. Furthermore I was stunned by the beauty of the Portuguese in real life, a gain over the picture that also the Portofino had, in my opinion, whereas that special Da Vinci stayed at the same, high `level`. I mentioned these thoughts on the forum too. What to do? I decided to wait until my thoughts and emotions were clear and `level` again.
Last Monday I `order`ed, my AD confirmed it and said that the watch would probably be available in August, when my wife and I have our holiday in Switzerland. Very convenient.
But, which one? The answer can at least be guessed by Michael: at the SIHH, coming back from lunch, I told him that the winner was... And I stayed by it, I `order`ed the steel Portuguese.

Not (officially) an `order`
but first refusal status.
Coincidentally I literally bumped into my AD during the SIHH - he had just placed `order`s for an impressive amount of pieces from the 2008 nouveaties. Without asking - he offered me the choice to see each 1st piece as they arrive to his boutique before his other customers and take my decision as suits.
I am interested in 2 pieces and depending on timing - my first desire is the Ingenieur in steel.
Which ones are the initial favorites --based on buyer's votes?

Michael

I also have asked to be called when the new Cousteau AT arrives. Ad did not have an estimated time of arrival yet for any of the models he `order`ed.
These are sight unseen so I didn't commit until I have them in my hands and on my wrist.
