It’s here…our forum is now seven years old. In the world of the Internet, that’s a millennium. Even in the history of IWC, it’s five per cent of the life of a great company. That’s huge.
And did you ever hear about the Rule of Sevens? It means that money doubles every ten years at 7%. And there’s Wilderness Survival Rules of Seven. It’s also a rule in Bridge and in Blackjack . Seven is a lucky number. It’s our Forum’s lucky number, too.
So we need to celebrate. Here’s the deal: please post below what has the forum has cost you over the past seven years? Have you bought 7 –or perhaps 70-- watches on account of us? Spent more than you ever imagined? Got your boss upset with you? How about your spouse or significant other? Has this forum changed your life –and cost you plenty, either in hard cold cash or otherwise?
On your entry post, there's one more rule: no more than seven sentences, please. We've got to keep this lucky.
I suspect we’ll find out that we’ve collectively bought many hundreds of watches, perhaps spent more than a million Euros, and had all sorts of little skirmishes with our friends and family. All because of a forum tucked away on the Internet.
But it’s all in fun. I’m thinking we’ll have engaging stories to tell and experiences to which we all can relate (or not). And nothing bad has come out of it –more IWC watches, after all, are always good!
Good luck to all. Please post your entries here before 7:77 p.m. (Schaffhausen time of course) on Saturday, June 14. I’ll pick at least 7 –and possibly as many as 17-- winners for great IWC prizes and announce them here. I'm still waiting for FedEx to deliver the prizes, and will post some photos as soon as they've arrived. Sorry, the "est. 1868" T-shirts have been delayed ;(
But --winners will be selected by random drawing, so all you have to do is enter in `order` to have an equal chance to win. The odds are really good.

The costs is far less than what I've gained
In the internet world, I am an old timer, here from shortly after the forum started although not a frequent poster. I've purchased a number of IWCs including the CFI but the knowledge and sense of community that I have gained since participating in this forum have far outweighted any costs. I look forward to many more IWCs and more importantly more friendships with like-minded spirits who appreciated what IWC represents. Best regards, Dan

Only been a member a short time...
but the information learned has been unexpectedly valuable and in the process. I hope will lead to making some new friends. As to the cost... because of the forum I got an advanced notice of several limited editions, one, the Carlson blue faced pilot has already been obtained. A second is in the offing later this year. For these I have, and will pay dearly-- but it is absolutely worth it. My wife just shakes her head and I'll leave it at that. A special thanks to Michael whose stewardship of this forum seems a driving force and a welcome resource.

Looking forward to the next 7 years
Although I haven't been part of the forum since its birth, I felt instantly connected and welcomed the second i logged on after I got my first IWC. If I had been part of this since then, I would have undoubtedly broken down and had a couple more IWC's under my belt. Ultimately, I look forward to the next 7 years and the beginning of a beautiful addiction. Happy 7th Birthday. By the way, I finaly have a pic of my first IWC.

7 Costly items with a possitive twist >>
What this forum has cost me:
1. A current collection of 7 watches (this cannot be a coincidence!). Although I have owned 9 in total now. They are/were all VERY enjoyable.
2. Countless hours of spare time reading, admiring, answering, making pictures and videos, but they were all VERY enjoyable.
3. A significant expansion of (watch) friends and emails to answer, but they were all VERY enjoyable.
4. Many long hours/weeks of anticipation of new models and collections, but they were all VERY enjoyable.
5. Taking up vacations to visit SIHH twice, but they were VERY enjoyable.
6. Taking up vacation to visit the collectors meeting in Schaffhausen, but this was VERY enjoyable.
7. A feeling of having become somewhat of an IWC ambassador as I am now known for my IWC watches and love by most of my friends and colleagues, I am typecast as Mrs IWC now, but I find this VERY enjoyable.
So it has cost something but look what it has given back :-)

Seven Signs
Since I became aware of the forum I have bought 16 watches (list below in earlier post). (Monetary costs = quite a bit - but I prefer to have them than the money sitting in my bank or spent on a Maserati.) 7 of which were ones I had not really fully appreciated before discussing with the forum members (can you guess which ones?). 7 days a week is my goal for checking in to read, learn and wherever contribute to the forum discussions. Nicky mentions feeling like an IWC ambassador - well I was at a development course at IMD Lausanne last week and one of the exercises we role-played was myself as an unofficial ambassador of IWC - which I thoroughly enjoyed - the impact being 6 new IWC watch purchases promised by my discussion partners (4 already `order`ed). I have really enjoyed expanding my life-family via this forum- and as an expressive introvert I feel very much at home here. Andrew

7 days of moderating with my friend Tonny...
was certainly a gain. Okay, I don't think it was 7 days, but it sounded good. Between the many benefits of owning some fine IWC watches and being invited to attend SIHH, and just the fun of this forum, I think my only real cost has been the watches I bought. "What dear, this old thing? I've had it for ages and maybe it cost $700, I don't remember."
i've bought 9 iwc's in 6 months mostly because of the forum. they are all worth it and so is the forum. the forum makes watch collecting sociable instead of sort of hermit like and lets you know your not the only person with the illness!
