The cost is not a monetary one.
Unfortunately, I only own one IWC watch. The portuguese chronograph; black face, stainless steel. This I bought before finding the forum. Relatively speaking, I haven't spent much money. I have, however, spent lots of time. Visiting the forum has been quite addictive.

It's here: our 7th Anniversary Drawing!
7 day power reserve - that's what led me to buy my first IWC, the Big Pilot. And that purchase led me to this forum. Now, thank you, I'm hooked! Happy Birthday!

It's here: our 7th Anniversary Drawing!
Before purchasing my one and only IWC to date the Pilot Chrono 371701 I must have admired it in the window of my local AD at least 77 times.Always dreaming of buying but nervous about taking the final step to my first 'real' watch.
Finally ,my partner took control ..she was a bit fed up with all the window shopping and the decision was made. Now this forum is a daily pleasure for me as is the great watch from IWC.

I'd been reading the forum for a few weeks before my first IWC about 18 months ago and enjoyed the sense of supportive community here. I never intended to get more than one IWC, but you know how it is... I now have six (two vintage, four contemporary) and aim for a seventh later this year (as promised in my posting on my 40th birthday, a Jubilee 2008 model). Cost-not counting! Happily invested, though, and the time cost in reading the forum has always been a pleasure. My wife seems supportive (well, she smiles indulgently!), so all in all it's been a most enjoyable journey for me. So, congratulations to Michael and all the "behind the scenes" IWC employees who made the forum possible and keep it running smoothly. Regards, Ross

Well in pure monetary terms the cost has been low, no more than 7k. But I'm a lawyer and if I could charge for the hours I've spent scanning this forum, I'd be at least 777k richer...

7th Dec.2007 ~ 77 US$ for a phone call
It was 07th Dec.2007 during Christmas shopping in Hong Kong when I made a firm decision to buy an IWC watch. When? Soon ! It cost me 77 US$ the phone call to my wife and convince her it was an investment. I took 7 minutes of fast walk from hotel to nearest AD in Hong Kong and walked out of the shop with my Spitfire UTC on my wrist. Great feeling. I'm thinking of my next IWC watch.

This forum and the information posted help me purchase my first IWC 3713 Doppel, and recently an Big Pilot. I check in 7 days a week, and have now for the last seven years. Even though I'm a lurker I feel at home on this site.
Cheers, Alan

I hope time is on my side to someday own 7 IWC’s. Over the past 7 years my collection has stabilized to 7 respectable time pieces but hope to increase 7x.
May the IWC Collectors and the Form always enjoy the 7 Japanese virtues Candor, Fortune, Amiability, Magnanimity, Popularity, Longevity, and Dignity.
