Aloha all!
Here are some quick pictures of my latest SE Big Pilot - 1 of 70 in stainless steel made for Bucherer in Switzerland.
First of all, I have to thank Franz Mattes’ for his excellent Big Pilot-related web site - it provided the continued inspiration for me to finally pull the trigger and get this SE BPP. (There is actually one more SE BP that I’m thinking about getting only because I’ve seen it on Franz’s web site.)
Years ago I tried to buy the Cellini titanium SE BPP but I was too late. Then, I was too late when Larry Seiden sold his.
This time Bucherer told me a long time ago that they were sold out of the stainless version but recently sent me an e-mail notifying me that one had become available.
For about two weeks I was frequently e-mailing Song Chau (“SC”) Fong (18 hours ahead in Hong Kong); Alan Ross / lndblr (6 hours ahead in Pennsylvania, USA); and Bucherer (12 hours ahead in Geneva) and it made me realize how isolated I am here in the middle of the Pacific 2,500 miles (4,000 km) from anywhere. Fortunately, SC and Alan really helped me to maintain my sanity after I ran into a number of obstacles getting this watch from Geneva to Honolulu.
Anyway, I’ll post better pictures when I have a chance.
