There are lists of movement numbers through 1974. You can Google "dateyouriwc" for one application, or we can help you.
For more modern watches, you can contact IWC if the watch is more than 10 years old. See "archives book" on the members' area here. or for many models you can ask on this forum --we often can tell based on what watches we own.
But --and a big BUT-- some forgers copy serial numbers too. We would need to look at the watch --at least by a photo, and sometimes a physical inspection is needed.

Alexmad, you may want to refer to this earlier discussion, as there is relevant info for you. Also in that case the warranty card was actually not lost but behind the warranty service booklet.

Dear Shing thanks a lot for your answer, wasvery hepful!
However, as I received my watch separated from its booklets for shipping costs reasons (the box and booklets are on the way) I cannot know if the guaranty card is at the back of one of those.

The warranty card is placed at the back cover of the warranty service booklet - this is normal, unless you have requested for your dealer to send it to you under seperate cover.
Meantime, a) Pics would help, if u could share them here on this forum. b) DateYourIWC by case and movement number (I prefer the applet version at the bottom)
If you serial number refers to your casing number, then DateYourIWC puts your watch casing as cased around 2002, but I would think this is inconclusive/not a full answer yet as to when your doppelchrono is "dated".
Please check IWC Workbook Search and search for 'double chronograph' and look for your watch there. Doppelchronos were made before and after 2002. All the best.

I've recently bought a Doppelchrono and would like to date it because I lost the W card. Can anybody help me? Its serial number is 2882690.
Thanks indeed.

I just want to know my watch's year. Any ideas?
Thanks indeed
Alexmad.
