Hi! I've inherited a watch from my father. My great grandfather bought this many years ago. My question is if anyone can identify it? And how much would it be worth on the market? The only typing I can read of the watch is of course the IWC logo and 0,585 and 722729. It's in perfect condition, and it was recently serviced.
--it probably was made between 1917 and 1920 --it has a 14k gold case which is in a so-called "hunter" or ""Savonette" style, which means the crown is at 3 o'clock and there's a lid that opens --it most likely has a Calibre 57 or less likely Calibre 52 movement --It has an unsigned dial (that is, no signature) with Breguet style numerals
With respect to Heiko, it really is a different watch --different dial, different movement, different time period. Virtually all pocket watches had small seconds at 6 o'clock, and aside from being a gold Hunter by IWC --of which there probably were hundreds of thousands in various forms--there's no similarity to my perception.
In terms of value, this is a relatively common watch, and its unsigned dial makes it less valuable in my opinion. I wouuld guess between 500 and 1000 USD (the latter is high-end) but we can't appraise here, and other opinions may differ. But that's just the market; in my opinion it's a beautiful object.

great watch and with the authentic chain. Rare to find the complete set.
I have a similar one, from aprox. 1942, with the C.98.

You can read more about IWC pocket watches, including Calibre 57 and 52 models at

You can also look at similar models in some of the old catalogs:
