Quite interesting indeed. Hands on contemporary watches don't get much attention, yet they are very important. We really don't know the names of the hands used for the different watches. It would be nice to have a list of watches and hands used for them, from, say, 1985, those are the contemporary watches here at this forum.
A watch becoming old fashioned or not has a lot to do with hands. I remember two examples that were not always received favourably at the time: the stick hands on the Grande Complication and on the Pilot's watches that were exchanged for, well, how to call them. Another movement that can be seen is that the hands, and the indexes too, became much thicker over the years. This can be seen with the Ingenieurs and de Aquatimers. Will this go on in the next few years? What about the hands on the new Portofino's? Those of the Portuguese did not change much, if at all, this year.
Kind regards, Paul, wearing a watch with interesting hands
