Hello All,
I am considering the Aquatimer Chrono Edition Galapagos Islands. I am looking for ownership feedback: What you like about it; what you do not like about it (if anything)? None are found at my local dealers, so it may have to bought without seeing it first in person. The size is not an issue for me. Will lint stick to the rubber coating or is the finish smooth enough as not to attract? What type of chemical (s) would deteriorate the rubber? Can the rubber be replaced by IWC or will the case have to be replaced?

Sorry, I cannot answer your questions, as I don't own one. I feel myself getting a bit more critical on watches lately, and getting disappointed now and then by what I see in person, when compared to the photoshopped pictures of the watches. Taking pictures of watches, getting the essence of them, is really hard: I know that some watches look always better in person than on pictures.
So, what I want to say is, that you take a risk buying a watch that you did not see first. I don't know what arrangements on this can be made with an AD, but considering the money involved I would never buy a watch that I did not see first. I did it once and got lucky, with the great Saint Exupéry Chrono. But I know of some examples that would have disappointed me, had I ordered and bought the watch unseen.
Good luck with the Galapagos, I was able to see and feel it, that particular feeling is great.
Kind regards, Paul

Sportee,
I am a big fan of the Aquatimer collection of IWC. Not so much the new models in comparison to the previous line. I do own a Calypso Cousteau diver watch with the wood in the back.
Having also previously owned a Audemars Piguet Arnold Schwarzenegger End of the days watch which had rubber buttons on the side, i noticed that from time to time my nails would dig into the side pusher crowns. Also the PVD aspect scratched often on the watch.
I know the galapagos watch is different, being all rubber, but the crown side pushers in rubber would bother me. I am sure that IWC would have this under warranty for sometime, but obviously not forever.
Not sure what chemicals would be bad for watch, so i can't help you much there. Anyways I would wait until the next model comes out, limited unless you are absolutely in love with this watch. I also find that IWC can do a better job on the engraving on the back. The turtle looks a bit flimsy and could be done better in my opinion.
