Since it is well known that I love Titanium IWC watches, I wonder what exactly the official stance by IWC is regarding it's use. Are they considering using it again in the future (please?)? IWC mastered using it early on, and I think it's a shame not to continue using it more.

Nelson, if I recall correctly Geroges Kern commented at a Collector's meeting a couple of years ago there is no plan to bring Ti back again. I may have misunderstood his comment, but this stuck in my mind.

Four of my current IWC watches are titanium and it would be nice to believe that IWC hadn't completely ruled out its use, particularly with the ever increasing size (and weight) of watches.

My only Titanium ......bit on the light side for me but an exceptionally great watch and no Ti IWC collection is complete without it? Regards Ivan iwcforme

Hi Nelson,
same opinion about this topic. But I am glad to have some of the PD by IWC TITAN icons in my collection :-)
IWC mastered using it (titanium) early on, and I think it's a shame not to continue using it more.
I've got three titanium watches with titanium bracelets by IWC, and I have worn them with pleasure al those years: light and nice to the skin. As titanium does not seem to sell very well nowadays, it is all about steel in this segment. From a commercial standpoint this is understandable, from a standpoint about the image of the brand it is not, certainly on the long run. Certainly with big and heavy watches it is good to have a choice, and one titanium Aquatimer and Ingenieur as heavy duty watches would be great. The image of IWC as a technically striving company, like about materials, is built in the past, it would be a good idea to sustain it in the present. A bit of guts and glory, this is IWC for me too. A titanium or ceramic bezel alone doesn't do it for me.
Kind regards, Paul

Nelson - I would REALLY love to see a new Ti case for a Perpetual Calendar - the Ti GST Perpetual is a fine example of how to execute a Ti watch - I'd like to see something new... Perhaps a Ti Yacht Club Perpetual (I think that sounds crazy - I am not making sense)....

I also think it would have been nice if IWC had decided to keep the production facility for titanium cases and bracelets open for future use (some limited editions?) although I understand that the current market is weak for titanium watches. Nevertheless I very much enjoyed my titanium GST perpetual during last summer. Next to the Aquatimer this one got the most wristtime of all. Very comfortable to wear and a real eyecatcher. It just shows what can be done with titanium....

I agree with NorbertS about the GST Perpetual Calendar Titanium, people and friends love my watch! They are always impressed about the combination of elegance and modern aesthetics, personally I love to have a moon tracking device on my wrist!... a chrono, day, date, complete year!... an IWC and Kurt Klaus landmark... all dressed in Titanium.
I have the feeling that IWC is going to make some kind of homage to this watch.
IWC mastered using it early on, and I think it's a shame not to continue using it more.

So I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but not holding my breath as of yet, as I don't think it's planned for the upcoming SIHH, but perhaps in 2012.
I have the feeling that IWC is going to make some kind of homage to this watch.
