I had the occasion to be in Los Angeles week before last to deal with a family emergency. Although most of my time was tied up, Dorothy and I did get a chance to visit the Beverly Hills IWC Boutique. It was a pleasure to meet Hoa, Arnaud, and Gregory in person. Hoa Huynh was the sales associate who facilitated my acquisition of the CFDV, and provided me with superb service throughout the whole transaction. Each of these gentlemen was very gracious and Hoa spent a good deal of time showing me the IWC collection.
I was beside myself to be able to try on all of the watches I had only seen in the catalog or in fellow forum members’ photos. If this commentary sounds a trifle like someone “coming to the city from the sticks”…that is exactly how I felt having access to all these beautiful watches. Dorothy and Hoa took wrist shots of two that I thought were especially beautiful.
The first picture is the new PPC in white gold with the blue dial. I now understand why Bill was so taken by this watch…it is stunning.
The second picture is of the Portuguese Tourbillon Mystère Rétrograde in platinum. I will never afford this piece, but it is one of the most gorgeous watches I have ever seen.
I think if I would have had the cash on hand…I might have come away with the DFB Ingenieur that Alan owns and has posted pictures. It looks great on the wrist!
I would be remiss in not mentioning the kindness shown to Dorothy and I while at the Boutique. Hoa gave us a list of restaurants in the area where we were staying and checked on the condition of our family member while we were in town, and after we returned to Texas. I would encourage anyone visiting the West Coast of the U.S. to take the time and visit the Boutique. You will enjoy every minute you are there!
Best regards, Jim

Jim,
The blue dial PPC is a great looking watch. I hope to see one on Bill's wrist by year's end. LOL The Mystere is also really nice. But like you it is not within my price parameters. Glad you enjoyed the boutique. I have to check it out sometime in the future. As to the DFB, I don't think there are many of these available in the US I was lucky enough to get one through a dealer but I think most are going to the boutiques or are being sold in Germany or Asia. I still stare at it every time I wear it, which is often..

JIm, thanks indeed for the pictures and reminder of what a great IWC the WG blue dial PPC is. I still remember having a hard time taking it off my wrist in Geneva last January. Thanks for posting both pictures.

Thanks for the beautiful wrist shots Jim! I hope to be able to see the blue dial Port Perpetual in real life somewhere here in NL. Anybody who knows of an AD that already has one?

First of all, I hope that the family emergency worked out in the end.
I remember seeing both those beauties at SIHH and they STILL look amazing!
Thanks for posting :-)
Hey Nad, Our family member is slowly improving every day. There is a much better prognosis at this point...thanks for inquiring.
Your pictorials/travelogues from your Asian boutique visits were the inspiration for this little report. It was a real treat to try on the watches...now I just need to take more photos!
Best regards, Jim

I saw the blue PPC im Luzern, very beautiful indeed. I guess it is for blue people, that is, people that like to wear blue watches. I'm not so sure that this is a watch to wear very often, as it is quite noticeable. In that respect it is as with the Plastiki, a very visible watch because of colour and size, and a very luxourious and beautiful watch on top of that. I wonder who of this forum is going to make the jump.
Kind regards, Paul

Those are fabulous watches and it's not everyday that one can try them on.
Thanks for sharing.
