Today a box arrived from IWC Schaffhausen. Its always a very exciting moment. Although we normally know what is in the box - it is still the small details that keep the excitement going.
This particular moment was induced through my first overhaul project. A Lady Golf Club which was in poor state but I bought it nevertheless. I thought I might be able to tempt my girlfriend to accept it as a gift - but in its original form I was met with the response - "that's so ugly not even your (i.e. mine) mother would wear it". Undeterred I was happy to see today the wonderful work of the IWC watchmakers and the restoration staff to bring back an ugly duckling to a cute swan (if you like that type of thing).
Inside was also a small gift - a perfect size for the iPhone 3G which is responsible for the quick images.

Well done Andrew, I hope your girlfriend will now wear it with pride. My wife really enjoys her Golf Club. It's just the right size for her smaller wrist.

The Lady Golf Club is tiny compared to the enormous "man-size" Golf Club (LOL).
I will take some side by side photos later......I might even trick my girlfriend into trying it on (but not her taste - she is more a Pilots fan......with her Mark XII ladys and she loves my Mark XV and XVI and she can often be seen trying it on......LOL.

Thanks for the story and pictures Andrew. The watch certainly looks very good after the restauration. Do you have any 'before' pictures to compare it with?
As for your girlfriend trying your pilot's watches: keep your BP away from her! If she ever sees a picture of Nicky wearing the beautiful 5002, you can probably kiss your BP goodby for a long time :-)

Andrew, I am very please to see this post for a number of reasons.
1) it's a great restoration - and a nice ladies watch 2) Good to see you back on the board (even if I have been scarce myself - due to extreme work pressures) 3) To realize, that maybe, just maybe I am not all that certifiably mad.....given, I recently added added 2 "ladies" IWC's to my collection Ref 2727 and Ref 4105 - both Cal. 41's , and had some cold sweat's that my passion, had turned into a now severe and certainly terminal disease! Clearly, I can now relax somewhat and hide behind the line "Andrew has some in his collection too....."
Only, yours has my most favourite calibre in it - does it not?

What an excellent result. I have just managed to get hold of a .44 caliber ladies watch. It needs a full service and new parts. I have written to IWC with the hope it can be re-built and serviced. It gives me some hope having seen your watch returned
