Good Afternoon
I am having a hart time finding the answer to this and I was wondering if perhaps you could assist.
On the Ingenieur chrono, is the bezel part of the case? I am considering purchasing one from my friend, who purchased it from an AD. The bezel holes are not lined up as they should be. Is that fixable? Is it a warranty issue? It also shows tiny dimples where the chrono pushers are hinged. All this sounds extremely odd to me, especially from a company that is world renown for their uber stringent quality control.
Is this normal? Is this a warranty issue, or can it be fixed easily?
Thank you again.
Here are some camera phone pics of the bezel holes.

I am not sure I would call this a bezel. But whatever it is called it is removable and probably has been for service. Although new watches have the holes lined up in a symmetric manner I have seen the holes lined up off center after service. Not a warranty issue in my opinion. Any dimples are just wear and tear and may be polished out to some extent. But you cannot blame IWC for this. I am sure the watch was in pristine condition when originally produced.

Thank you Alan and rest assured, I am not blaming anybody. I have received some mixed answers from folks and some on TZ have said the "bezel" is an integral part of the case and it is not removable and as a result they stated that it looks like a manufacture defect.
To be honest, knowing that it can be easily corrected by the service center is good news. I'd much rather have that as opposed to a "defect" which would require a whole new watch case.
I am estimating this watch to be around 4 to 5 years old and for the age, it is in good shape and it keeps outstanding time.

I just replied to your question elsewhere. I found the info about the bayonet fitting here in the archives. There was a link from MF to images he posted earlier but I was unable to find them :-(
I would add that it appears someone may have played with the bezel and twisted it. I'm not sure, but note the small marks on the right side of the bottom bezel hole. One problem with used watches is that one can't tell what happened previously with the watch. These problems usually can be fixed but they're not warranty issues.
