Although the guts of these two are based on the same movement, the same cannot be said for the design. But I like them both. So this picture provides a nice comparison.
This black dial Yacht Club is a fine watch. The more I think about it the more I like it.

Both look great. Are you going to acquire the Yacht Club? What dial colour? I saw them all at different AD's in Switzerland recently, the white dialed watch was my favourite. By the way, looking at your Inge, I notice that the 89360 movement doesn't seem to have the quick date change feature, like the 80110 has, is that correct?
Kind regards, Paul, wearing the other one, still in honeymoon mood

You and Clemons are absolutely correct . The DFB does not have a quick change of date. It actually starts moving at 11.25. And yes I am interested in the YC. I think the white dial looks better in pictures. But unless there is a special addition with darker hands I think the black dial looks better on the wrist. I think I will wait to see what the new model year brings and then make a decision.
Just to correct for future reference: a quick change date mechanism refers, at least in conventional watch parlance, to setting the date independently by the crown. A semi-quick change mechanism refers to setting the date by the crown but with moving the hands to a small extent (like between 10 and 2).
There's no one word or phrase, to my knowledge to a date that changes exactly at midnight, but I've heard people call that an "instantaneous date change". It's a relatively new thing in automatic watches, although I suspect the design has been around for a long time.

I maybe was not clear. I didn't mean a date change at exactly midnight, but rather that the date jumps immediately, like in a flash, so you don't see the "space between date numbers". My 3227 jumps at about 00:00 (quite accurately, actually), you can clearly hear a click. I more ore less had expected the 89360 to have the same jump feature. It is not very important but just nice.
Kind regards, Paul

However, IWC still has nice watches in the programme, but sometimes vintage pieces have really good prices. Did you ever consider - apart from the one I Know about - to buy a classic?
Actually I have thought about it many times. I have cosidered a Jubilee, a Mark 11 and a few others like it, as well as the Portofino hand wound with the moonphase at 3 o clock and one of the original aquatimers. In each case I decided to get something from the newer lines. I guess I am just into the more contemporary watches or I would have made other choices by now. And there is always tomorrow.

Very nice Alan! I agree...I think the black dial looks very good on the wrist.
Best regards,
