Today a customer of ours had a very special watch on his wrist. A 1952 IWC Ingenieur in yellow gold. It just came back from IWC Switzerland for a complete overhaul. This watch was bought new by his grandfather in 1952 and he is still wearing it with pride. He told me he already received some very interesting offers for his watch, but he will never sell it! I can't blame him, it is an absolute beauty :)
I was wearing my IWC Ingenieur Vintage Collection. I couldn't let him walk out the door without taking some pictures :D

Just imagine how many watches like this are lurking around in people's attics or basements just waiting to be found and sent for overhaul by IWC. Thanks for posting.

What a wonderful keepsake and a beautiful watch. Thanks for taking the time to share the photos with us. I am wearing my VC Ingenieur today and it is one my favorites of the whole IWC collection!
Best regards, Jim

That is a beautiful Ref 666A with baton hands. The early Ingenieurs, especially those without date (cal 852), are IMHO among the perfectest functional/tool watches ever made. BTW, the date has to be later than 1952 as the first Ingenieurs date from 1955, but that is not very important. Thanks for sharing.

I concur fully with clepsydra here, but I've seen early Ingenieurs that have movements that were produced in 1952 or 1953, although the watch was cased and sold a few years later. 1955 is the "official" IWC debut date for this model.

And now I see 2 great watches pictured above. The classic in GOLD is a beauty - but the stainless steel model on the rice bead bracelet is a classic too.

That is correct. This Ref 666A dates from 1956 and the cal 852 from 1953.
