So whats the secret to the lighting technique ? It's an absolute brilliant photo.....
The 'secret' was the light from behind. In my first attempts I only lit the watch from the front/above. This made the background very dark and didn't give me the mood I wanted. Then I remembered a photograph/portrait where the photographer faked sunlight from a window with his flash. So I grabbed a second strobe and placed it behind the watch and also placed a bottle of wine and a wineglass and aimed the strobe at the glass. The image immediately came to life. The light reflected beautifully in the wineglass and created great bokeh.
