The Plastiki expedition being over about a month or two, I wonder whether the crew has been debriefed (wow!) about the Plastiki Ingenieur. Have they told about their experiences with the watch? Are they still wearing the watch now and then, now that the expedition is over? I wouldn't be surprised to see some marketing efforts by IWC, stressing the adventurous points of this watch.
Kind regards, Paul

Hi Paul,
I am curious about that too! I was at sea today on "De Eendracht" and I decided to wear my Ingenieur (small report to follow in a few days I hope). The watch held up much better than I did by the way ;-)

Hi Clemens,
Yes, that sturdy little 3227 is supposed to stand everything a human being can. I read a slogan like this in the past. I always interpreted this in the way that when you drop this watch 1 meter, it keeps on running; when we drop 1 meter, we might need a wheelchair for some days.
About the Plastiki: I cannot believe that the action of IWC was a "do well and don't look back" kind of generosity. At least some kind of feed back may be asked. It would be nice to read about it, I kind of expect the new Inge doing really well. Knowing about it could increase the connection to the watch.
The nicest remark on a watch by a sportsman was made a long time ago, a Dutch cyclist in the Tour de France. He fell into an abyss, and when asked later about this experience, he said: "My heart stood still, but my XXX kept on running.". Small summer quiz: does anybody know the brand of the watch, here indicated by XXX? No prizes.
Kind regards, Paul

I'm not sure how to count here. The limited edition watch was made in 1000 examples. The crew, all of who wore one, were composed of six members if I recall (you can Google "Plastiki" and find out much more). I would have guessed that some other watches were given away or loaned to supporting members of Adevnture Ecology, David de Rothschild's organization.
Kind regards,
Paul

Kindly keep the discussion to IWC-related topics. I would prefer that this not become a general watch discussion forum.
Thank you. (By the way, the English word is "prize"; price refers to something else.)
