I'm back in the saddle again. Out where a friend is a friend. Each day I feel no fear If I wear my Ingenieur. I'm back in the saddle again.
OK, so it's not exactly Gene Autry. For our non-American friends, Gene Autry was "The Singing Cowboy" who starred in radio, movies, and later televison during the 1930's through 1950's. He later owned a major league baseball team as well as Los Angeles radio and televison stations. This will give you an idea:

And here is why I am "Back in the Saddle Again":
I sold my Ingenieur quite some time ago as part of a decision to reduce the number of watches I owned but didn't always get to wear. I used to wear a different watch each day, selected from dozens, many of which weren't getting wrist time. This became very easy once my white dial Aquatimer 2000 arrived. Though I was a little uncertain at first, the Aquatimer soon became a favorite and my rotation became two watches.
But wait! No black dial? What sort of IWC lover doesn't own a black dial? How can this be? Man, I needed one!
But which watch for Whichwatch? Somewhere in the past churning, I had sold my Ingenieur. I had sold my 3717 pilot chrono. I had sold my Ceramic Doppel. I had sold the follow-up Top Gun. But as I thought about it, there was only one choice. The problem was, how to source a watch now out of production and increasingly becoming a cult favorite that is harder and harder to find. The answer came via a good IWC friend. Just back from the spa, feeling and looking good as new, and on my wrist to stay this time. So now it's a three watch rotation, with a few other dressier IWC pieces for special wear.

OMG...I remember Saturday mornings with the "Singing Cowboy!" That looks like a great rotation, Dick (although I might never pry the PIsa off my arm if I was a proud owner)! Congratulations on the perfect IWC balance for daily wear.
Best regards, Jim

Way to go Dick. That's a nice pick-up. If you are like me, the Inge gets a lot of wrist time. Even though it is a heavy watch, it wears comfortably and the bracelet is one of the best in the IWC line-up. Wear it in good health.

great colection and good story to read too. But why sell the pilot, it seems you now can climb moutains, go diving and after dress for formal diners.. but what about flying. Let me know when you get one again. cheers Bas Dekkers

The pilot was a great daily wear. I sold it during the major reduction in my collection when I sold a number of watches I loved. But I found I could only wear so many, and house rennovations provided a ready place to apply the extra cash.

Good to see you added that one back in your collection! What a funny thing you choose the title "Back in the saddle again" since yesterday I was looking a mountainbike movie with exactly that title!

What a great watch. For some reason whenever I see this watch I think of the Terminator...did your earlier Inge by any chance remark "I'll be back"? It sure did :)

Actually, I don't see much creep coming. I'm more retired than not now, and house rennovations have soaked up all available cash. So unless something leaves, I don't think anything new will come in. I'm not sure I see any of these leaving.
