I have noticed that so many new Members are getting registered in this new Forum. This is of course great news but could it be due to the all new format or is marketing doing just a great job or could it be both? Your thoughts and opinions would be very much appreciated.
Just a guess...the new website is much simpler in terms of options, and the links at the top of the website's main page has Collectors' Forum right in the middle. That encourages people to check out the forum. Also, I suspect some people migrate from the Facebook page to the IWC main page, and then see the forum link.
Just a guess --since I know of no Internet marketing thrust right now, except for Facebook.

I have noticed the same thing and have been giving it some thought. There are still the same great people on the new forum that participated in the old forum...but I think the new format might have had an impact on drawing new people. The new forum format is both visually and by virtue of the various sections, a more open and "airy" website...much less linear. The very design of the old format appeared somewhat like a closed conversation and perhaps seemed not as accessible as the new. I point this out more as a visual and a perception rather than the reality of the discourse. I always observed newcomers (myself included) warmly welcomed and their questions answered...but the new format feels and looks more inviting...and newcomers continue to be warmly welcomed and their questions answered. . I think this forum is the best of its kind and I applaud the work and thought that went into the design ...especially if it is facilitating the expansion to a wider audience.
These are just some random thoughts I had on the subject...and as a certain now-faded comedian once said, " That's just my opinion, I could be wrong!" :>))
Best regards, Jim

While ideal future situations are, of course, ideal, to my thinking:
1. truth always is what it is at a given point of time, including now. The fact is that today we have increased participation, with normal levels of "turnover" and some increase in new members. Hopefully that will continue or even improve further.
2. I have said repeatedly that there will be a new website, and this is a transitional website. I have not said anything about new forum software; I understand that there are plans to correct some of the perceived deficiencies the software, but I do not know that there will be brand new forum software. I am not saying there will not be, but I have no knowledge -one way or the other-- regarding that.
3. In terms of the "final one" being "only better", it is my experience with all software that (a) everything has pros and cons, and (b) due to disparate opinions of the participants, some aspects please some people and displease others. it is an issue of communities and software generally. But better of course is, well, always better.
That said, let's move on and talk watches. Thanks.

Why don't we welcome all the new members with a nice quiz, with some goodie prizes? Also the older members would like this, I guess. And depending on the question, quite some nice topics on watches may be discussed. Summer being over in the Northern world, we have no distractions from that direction to fear anymore.
Kind regards, Paul
