Tonight a small, but very enthusiastic IWC group had a wonderful GTG in Amsterdam. Nicky, Bas, Clemens and I had dinner at a very trendy sushi bar. Several other local collectors planned on attending, but unfortunately a flu bug struck and they were not able to join us.
On a Friday night the restaurant and bar was very crowded. It was fun to watch the patrons walk by wondering why some of us had a watch on each wrist and even more amazed when we pulled out our IWC’s for a group picture.

We each signed Clemens' copy of the new IWC book. This is the first time I have seen the book. My copy should be on my desk when I get back to the States.
Our watches on display:

These local GTG’s, imho, are one of the great things about being a member of the IWC Collector’s Forum. We talk about our passion for IWC and learn from each other about our collections and what may be on our wish list for our next IWC. These events, whether in Europe or the USA, are very special.
Thanks Nicky for getting the group together and for being my tourist guide this afternoon.
Btw Bas, good luck and have fun on your Mount Kilimanjaro expedition.

Hello Bill,
It was a pleasure seeing you again and the meeting was great! A pity indeed that several others had to miss this event.
By the way, I am still wondering at what moment you took this picture:
Looking at my face, it must be when I had a bit too much wasabi on my sushi :-)
Tomorrow, I will post a few pictures that I made, but the big camera wasn't the most practical in this setup. Your Leica really impressed me and since my small Sony is nearing the end of it's useful lifetime, I now know what to look for!
Kind regards and have a safe flight home tomorrow.

Hi Amsterdammers,
I am glad you all had such a good time. Quite a lot of wonderful watches for such a small group. It's a pity that a busy work schedule these months made it impossible for me to attend: good luck next time. Have a nice weekend, and travel well.
Kind regards, Paul

As promised, here are the pictures I took yesterday evening.
Bas signing my copy of "IWC, engineering time since 1868". I hope to get as many signatures of Forum members as possible, making the book even more special. The only disadvantage is that it's quite heavy, thus not too practical to bring along. Yesterday, I carried it in a large shopping bag and the lounge bar we were in, isn't exactly the place where you want to be seen with such a bag :-)
Bunch of hardware on the book:
One of my favorites: the UTC. I believe that Bas brought this one?
Nicky browsing the book:
The choice of food was excellent, many thanks to Nicky for organizing, making the reservations and choosing exactly the right food to accompany us on this lovely evening.

Sadly I was one of the flu victims that was unable to attend. It was a real pitty to miss this occasion to meet again some great people, see some fantastic watches and miss a wonderfull diner. Hope to meet you all on another occasion in the future.
Regards
Norbert

What a wonderful GTG! I quite agree...being able to spend time with other forummers almost anywhere in the world is one of the best benefits of being part of this community! My fondest regards to everyone!
Best regards, Jim

Indeed nice (!) to (finally) meet some people behind their aliases on the collectors forum site. And great to see the connection between people that a hobby like IWC can bring. A pity that the flu got the better of two attendees, but nevertheless a great meeting. Nicky thanks for the reservation an creating the opportunity. Bill nice to have met one of the real collectors and of course Clemens too. Best regards
