Hi All,
What a start to my day yesterday. I was going out for the day and decided to wear my Rolex Oysterdate (Not the best time keeper in the world to say the least) As usual it had lost time overnight so I wound it and pulled out the winder to adjust the time. Out came the whole winding stem! Bugger, I thought. I will wear my Cal 89. Got it out of the display box and started to wind it up and "Twang" I think the main spring may have broken. So now I have 2 watches that need repair. Thank goodness for my Cal. 88. Not the most auspicious start to a day.

Ouch, that really hurts... Maybe you can sell the Rolex and add another IWC to your collection, while the Cal. 89 goes to Schaffhausen for an overhaul? ;-)

Hi Clemens,
Sounds like a plan. I am getting a friend to just look at the Cal 89 to make sure it is the mainspring before rushing in. I have 2 Rolex (Not bragging) and I have been trying to sell one already to put the money toward a Mk XV but the way things are at the moment I can't give it away!! Thanks for the sympathy :-)))

What a nightmare! Whether it's an IWC or Rolex this is not supposed to happen. Had a similar experience... Dropped my Aquatimer ones (slid from my wrist), its the only one without a folding clasp, but was able to rescue it because in the fall down to the stone floor, I managed to toss it on the bed.. Scary stuff but luckily no damage on my site.. best regards

Hi Bas & Isobars,
Thanks for the replys. The Rolex goes off tomorrow and I have e-mailed IWC and had reply saying they will pass my enquiry on to the relevant dept. Nothing yet from the relevant dept. but no rush. If I can sell the one of the rolex I will be putting the money toward the Mk. XV so I will have an IWC ending !!

Hi Nad,
They say misfutunes come in 3's. First and second was the watches and today I have smashed the wing mirror on my Golf beyond repair. That should be it for this time around! I have a guy coming on Friday to buy a couple of Japanese swords off me so if all goes well I should have enough to get my Mk.XV. Fingers crossed. Posted my Cal 89 off to IWC UK today for repair.
Cheers,
Brian.
