I had the pleasure to meet Alan at a collector's meeting in Schaffhausen several years ago. He has a remarkable IWC pocket watch collection and he is considered to be THE expert on IWC pocket watches today. Make sure you read this article about Alan and his passion.
I think Alan's a great guy and was really pleased to see him profiled. However, I consider Alan THE expert on Jones pocket watches. I vote for Dr. Ralph Ehrismann as the expert for IWC pocket watches generally --even the late Fritz Wagener (earlyiwc) acknowledged what he learned from Ralph to me.
BUT --they're all great, and there is no need to compete. All is good. :)

Good point. I by no means wish to disparage Ralph's expertise. My bad,

Totally agreed, MF. Ralph Ehrisman is THE expert on PW generally. I think we all are his "students" :=) I woner where he is and what he is doing. All the best Hans
Ralph's around, and as usual busy with his work. He and I stay occasionally in touch, and he posted here when our new forums opened in early August. I still turn to him with technical pocket watch questions.
I also correspond with Alan Myers from time to time. Last time concerned the unusual Jones pocket watch someone posted here.
