All,
I'm looking for a casual, everyday wear watch, preferably on a steel band. I really, really like the Ingenieur 322701 but I am unable to locate an AD that can get one. The 323604 is nice but I like that the 3227 is smaller. I've also looked at the Aquatimer family and, while I like them, I'm not completely crazy for one.
Any thoughts that anyone may have or ability to locate a 3227 would be greatly appreciated.

I faced the same issue. There are several watch sites that host active watch sales boards. I placed a "Want to Buy" post on one and within hours, voila! Due to a good IWC friend my prayers were answered.
This approach to obtain watches no longer present in dealer stocks has worked for me a number of times and I would certainly recommend it as opposed to fishing in that sewer of an auction site.
It is a great watch and the search is worth it. Good luck!

I'm with Dick on recommending the 3227, if you find one. I will say that another of Dick's favorites and mine as well is an AT2000. See both below. The steel bracelets of each are magnificent.

And to further complicate your choice, I will chime in with a suggestion that you consider the Spitfire Mark XVI. It has an antimagnetic iron cage inside the case, a workhorse movement that is unerringly accurate and looks great on a steel bracelet.
Best regards, Jim

Thank you, Gentlemen.
Dick, thank you for the idea. I have posted and we'll see what bites I get.
Bill, thank you for the pictures. I really like your Aquatimer and I have considered that exact one. The problem is I really love the Ingenieur and I just really like the Aquatimer. Thus, my dilemma.
Jim, I actually already own the Spitfire Mark XVI except mine is on a brown alligator strap. I absolutely love it. It's an incredibly versatile piece and if I didn't already have it, you're absolutely correct, it would be great for everyday wear.
Thank you all for the information. I still have more thinking and searching to do.

My suggestion would be an Aquatimer for casual wear. Most of the times, the Ingenieur seems too serious and is sublime. That's a great watch if that's what you are looking for. On the other hand, the Aquatimer brings out a more casual and rugged appearance. I strongly suggest going for the "older" Aquatimer such as this:
