Hello, After lurking for a few years, I finally have a post! Basically, I wanted to know how to find the place on the IWC site to request information on a Cal. 89 watch? I have the case number (1389091) and movement number (1389831). Before they completed the makeover of the site, I remember there was a place that I could submit this information and pay a fee to find out when and where this watch first sold. I can't find it any more? Could someone please point me in the right direction? I will owe the site a post of the watch, which is beautiful and keeps perfect time. However, I am thinking of sending it back for a complete check-up and cleaning, which is LONG overdue.

I just joined this forum after recently acquiring an old International Watch that belonged to my late grandfather, then my late brother. This is my first post, but in trying to find out more about my new watch, I found a site with an app that dates your IWC watch by either case or movement. Not sure if posting a link is permissible, but if you do a search for 'date your iwc' you should be able to find it. If not, I entered in the numbers you provided and got the result that the movement is from 1956 and the case was "Most probably produced resp. delivered around 1957". I know you were trying to find out where the watch was first sold, but maybe this info. will help lead you to that answer. Best regards.

You can obtain an archive extract from IWC by contacting IWC via the "contact us" link above and request an archive report giving them the case and movement numbers. Alternatively, send an email to info@iwc.ch withe the same request. I believe the cost will be ~50CHF. The information will look like this:

Thanks, I was able to order the Extract. The Extract said it was a cal. 89, lig 12, ref 564. It was originally sold in September of 1957. I posted a couple of picutes on this site a couple of weeks ago before I sent it back. MF said that it needed work and stated something like the dial looked like someone had used a crayon on it. I am the second generation in my family to own it, so I wanted to have it refurbished so that I can pass it on to the next generation. I sent it back to the factory for refurbishing and hope to have it back by next summer.
Lately, I have been on the hunt for a 5001-7. We are lucky here in Vegas, there are four AD's to try and work a deal with. I have set my goal to get one as a Christmas present to myself, so I have make a deal soon!

Tio, when you get it back - it will be in GREAT shape and you will indeed have a family heirloom to keep. We would appreciate that when you get it back, you post a set of "before and after" photos, so that we too, can share in your joy of owning this watch.
