Several years ago, the day before entering SIHH we encountered Herr Klaus on the street in Geneva. Since he knew us, he sat down for a couple of beers and showed us a prototype that was going to be introduced the next day.
Well, needless to say, I told him it was the most gorgeous complicated watch I'd ever seen. I still believe as I did that day, the casework is to die for. Last year, I sold my Port PCC to fulfill the desire I had that afternoon.
Today, I was the host and MC of a meeting of HR executives this morning and since I was getting dressed up (more than my usual jeans and t's), I decided to bust out the red gold Kurt Klaus Perpetual Chrono/Calendar. WOW! I got a few nice comments, but more importantly, I got some time to reacquaint and admire what a gorgeous watch this is. I'll admit it, I'm guilty of playing "headgames" with myself, saving this watch for special occasions, when I should be wearing it as much as some of my other IWCs.
Now, I'm back home and back to the usual jeans and t's.
IWC and Herr Klaus - you hit this one out of the park.

Larry, that is one beautiful watch. I had the chance to try on the stainless steel version last weekend and I must say I was blown away by the dial detail and the presence of the watch. I can only imagine what your beautiful example is like on the wrist. Wear it (often) in good health. Jeff

Larry...thanks for sharing this wonderful encounter and a very beautiful watch! It's having the opportunity to hear stories such as this that makes my daily visit here so worthwhile! I hope I have the good fortune to meet Herr Klaus one day.
Best regards, Jim

Larry, a wonderful story and much appreciated that you shared it.
Now that comment that you sold your Portuguese PPC to make this dream come true, is striking near the core. I streched to sign up for the CFDV, and really enjoy that watch. Like your Kurt Klaus PPC, it too only gets 'smart time" - and probably not enough of it. But here is the ball breaker....I've got the 2010 Portuguese PPC on order at the AD - and that takes some saving (the CFDV was not exactly cheap) but seeing the beautiful photos of your Kurt Klaus PPC in the DV case......hmmm..

Fantastic Larry. I still remember when you told me about that encounter with Mr. Klaus in Geneva - I was so excited when you shared the photos of the prototype too - because I had placed an order - sight unseen for that Rose Gold DaVinci Perpetual Edition Kurt Klaus about 3 weeks before you went to Geneva.
I must admit - that "The Man" is my hands down FAVORITE of my collection (which includes 2 Portuguese Perpetuals, I might add) - you are so right - you need to wear him a little more often - even in jeans.
It may sound a little crazy, or weird - but wearing it reminds me a little like an adult version of carrying around a "teddy bear" - this watch gives me so much more of a personal "connection to Schaffhausen" than any other watch I own.
