Hi there,
This afternoon, the weather was fine and the sun was shining. I decided to take the Portuguese Automatic out for a little photoshoot at a nearby artificial lake. The wind however was so strong, that I didn't dare to take much more pictures of the watch on the wooden edge, the watch was almost blown away!

Thanks Thorsten. I didn't use any glue but I checked if the water wasn't too deep before placing the watch on the edge. Having it back on the wrist was very comforting though :-)

Thanks Ivan... I am actually considering trading in a few watches to get a Portuguese Perpetual... Taking these pictures this afternoon however, makes me think about it again. The 500107 is indeed such a great watch that the idea of loosing it is hard to swallow, even though a Portuguese Perpetual is on my wish list for several years already.

Very beautiful pictures of a very fine watch, Clemens. Glad you didn't need to embark on a fishing expedition, assuming the water was not that clear. A horror scenario to me. The watch being waterproof to 30 meters being the least of your worries.
Ah, selling watches to get the grail. Considering your collection I wouldn't do it, your watches are too nice, and the collection gives you a watch for every opportunity. I have my Portuguese Perpetual Calendar almost seven years now, it is quite a treat. Would I loose all my watches, and would I have enough money available, I am not quite sure this would be the first watch that I would buy back: I would probably go for the Vintage Collection watches. But of course you only know when you are in that situation.
Kind regards, Paul

Joe: there is no fishing line attached but I kept a close look at the wind and didn't leave the watch on the edge for more than 10 seconds.
Paul: the water there is crystal clear and only half a meter deep. worst case was entering the water to pick up the watch from the bottom.
Thanks very much for your thoughts about the Portuguese Perpetual. This doesn't make it easier though. I agree that having several watches for all kinds of occasions is very very nice indeed.

As always, beautiful pictures. The 5001 was my first IWC. I have sold two or three watches but the 5001 will never be for sale. It was also a special gift from Mrs E which makes a sale even more unlikely.

Anyway, I hope you like them:
