The Portuguese explorers named the island Ilha Formosa or Beautiful Island when they arrived there in 1544. It would have been perfect if IWC had used the Portuguese name they gave the island, to make a better connection between a Portugieser and Taiwan. Or perhaps not.

Antonio, I don't know if this could work, what I do know is IWC should ask for your guidance before coming out with a new Portuguese LE!

Roberto. In this case, as you well know, there is no mistake. There is nothing wrong with the map or the name of Taiwan. It is, in my opinion, a missed opportunity of linking the Portugieser line with the poetic name the Portuguese gave the Island. IWC does not need my guidance on Portuguese history, although I would be honored if asked. If they did, I could be paid in kind. There are, however, many competent historians in Switzerland capable of providing accurate advise. And at the bare minimum, there is wikipedia.

I like the dial on this one! But what is going on with the "one out of N" marking on all 2010 LEs? I hope IWC will return to individual numbering soon...

On the picture of the movement it looks lite that this is a screw balance. But so far the 51011 of the Portuguese Autmatic doesn´t have a screw balance, is this a new movement?
Here is the announcement of the watch: http://www.carnews.com/detail/22552
