Hi everyone,
I've been considering getting a 5001 and have been looking at the 5001-12 Laureus Foundation LE and the 5001-07, white dial with blue numbers. Makes sense that LEs fetch a higher price but I was just hoping to get some advice from collectors about the value between the 2. They are both beautiful timepieces but which would be a more worthwhile buy? Unfortunately I don't have the funds to buy them both!

A proportion of the sale price from the Laureus goes to that Foundation; I assume (or hope) that IWC contributes the difference between the price of the Laureus and the other steel 5001s.
Both of your options are great and very handsome; IMO you should go with the colour combination which speaks most to you. I went for the Laureus and was more than happy to know that I was in some small way contributing to a worthwhile cause. The fact that it supported a charity played no part in my decision process; I simply love the colour. "Worthwhile" is a very subjective word, so only you can decide that for yourself. Good luck.

Thanks all. Really appreciate your views.
In terms of colour, I prefer the Laureus edition. But the sapphire back is so appealing! Any ideas on which is more collectible though?
I had a similar dilemma when deciding on which 5002 to get. The slow beat or transitional... The other posts on the forum helped and eventually went with the slow beat. Fantastic watch. So I'm hoping it'll do the same again.

Jeremy, the forum would not be the forum if it was not for us being able to voice our opinions and give our responses to questions like yours here.
You went for the "slow beat" probably without realizing it, but deep down your probably a purist! the fact that you are enjoying that fantastic watch - probably confirms this. So the question you want to be asking yourself, is "would a purist opt for a sapphire case back" - answer NO, and you have your answer to the question you put to the forum.
Go with the Laureus - it's probably more your type of watch. But as a non purist, let me tell you Sir, that both the watches you mention are absolutely great. So take your time and follow your heart.

Hi Mark,
Thank you very much your advice. I will definitely take my time and think about it. But something tells me I will probably go for the Laureus. Looking forward to posting up some pictures when I get my hands on it!
