Hi Everybody,
The title of this post isn’t probably the most appropriate since my purpose is to fathom your opinions about an idea I had some time ago I will talk in a while.
My reflections started thinking about how many things I missed not being in this forum since the beginning; I missed the company of the forumers attending during those times, I missed some GTG and maybe some other CFM, I missed the chance to get the first CF too and who knows how many other things I left behind.
What I didn’t miss were everybody’s contributions, fortunately stored in the archive. Thanks to the archive I had the chance to meet People in a diachronic dimension. The really ultimate patrimony of this forum is the archive, I believe.
Having said that, I would like to ask you what’s the most important post ever written in this forum to your opinion and post the link to it as well.
The aim is not to compile a ranking which would have a very small sense but to ask to Michael and to you what’s your thought about putting a collection of the best posts in a book, I mean, a real book.
There could be some problems related to the legal aspects, documentation copyrights etc. at worst, we could fund its realization, I wonder if these elements suffice to stop an eventual initiative taken in this direction, always if the idea is appreciated.
Ten years of the IWC forum, everything conspires to pull out fervent ideas to celebrate, this is mine, maybe naïve and enthusiastic but that’s the way I am.
Thank you All for your patience reading this long text.
Regards,
Roberto
P.S. At worst, thanks to the links some good souls will post, I’ll gain some good readings.

It is a great idea Roberto. But as all great ideas it involves certain issues. Legal for one thing. Funding too. WI is an alternative of course, this could be published as a inner issue of the magazine.
I don't want to sound negative or something. But I am a bit concerned though.
Anyway when there is a will there is a way but I believe IWC has to make the calls. I would love to get involved in the project. Whatever the outcome it is a great idea and initiative and I ll start my research for the Greatest Post Ever.
We could also have the Post of the Week back on the splash page every week, and also by using this title you save a lot of work in searching the archives...

There is a jewel of a posting an about arcane technical pocket watch escapements. I only understood 1/3 of it but the German and Japanese forum members involved (I just can't recall the names) went at it systematically and with incredible detail. This was several years ago, before some of the best collaborators stopped posting. I just can't find it in the archives. Cellar already chose it in one his Tuesday specials.

I can certainly appreciate that there have been so many, content-rich topics and contributions in the first 5 years of the Forum - 2001-2006. It's so hard to recall all the greats - here at once. I have recalled about 7 of my favorites here - I am sure I can come up with at least a DOZEN or 2 DOZEN more - if given more thought.....
Hope these links get things started - the archives are certainly a "treasure" of Forum Riches.....

Well, I didn't expect so many replies and so many interesting links and suggestions, thank you everybody, especially Richard for the numerous and precious links.
Maybe the idea of the book, is a little too self-celebratory but I'm still thinking it deserves some further attention, in any case, I'll be glad to hear your opinions.
