David --to me, this is very interesting and the first I've heard about these watches. Herr Knirim is a friend of this forum and used to check in every now and then. But given the likelihood the timing is off, I suggest writing him at konrad.knirim@t-online.de.

It has actually been back to IWC for a quote for a service and new hands etc... But I'm afraid its out of my budget to have carried out.
I not a huge watch collector, I just love military bits and Rolexes so I doesnt make much difference to me if its running or not being a pocket watch. If I can get the original had reworked and fixed I will.

Hallo David, sorry for being late, I was away.. Sorry, but I do not have any more information, I made the photos at an English collector, who had the data from IWC. IWC watch, delivered in September 1915, a batch of twelve calibre 57 watches in blackened steel case with gold hinges, bow and lips to Stauffer & Sons, UK agent for IWC, 88524 K Rated‘. - You may ask IWC for an extract of the archives. - I could not get any more information on the gov-marking. No specs of the K letter watches are available, as for the H letter watches of page 274 + 275...! There are still little information or documents surfaced on all these WWI and later letter markings shown in my book. . Gruesse/Regards/Salute Konrad Knirim . http://www.knirim.de
It says in Konrad Knirims book there was only 12 issued ? Would love some more information.
I believe the one in the book does not have its original dial and this one I believe does, signed Goldsmiths but cant work the rest out.
Its working but one of the hands has snapped and needs another one putting on.
It is singed IWC on the 14k bow of the watch.
Thank you for your help.
David.
