Hi, i have recently bought my first iwc watch - a BP 500401. The first night i had it, i realised the date change was not instantaneous. I did not think much of it. Next morning, the date change was still stuck / jammed - between 19 and 20. I did a quick date change - of course ensuring the time was not between 2000hrs and 0200hrs. what i did was to wind the hour hand till the date change...then with the hour hand at 6 oclock, i adjust the quickdate to the "19" again..and then wind the hour hand changing the date to 20 and to the present time. That night the date did change "normally" although i do not really know what normal is as the date change pretty fast from 20 to 21 in like 5 mins... is there a problem with my new watch pls??

My Ingenieur Automatic (3227) does this once in a while too, not too often. A bit annoying, but not too serious, I guess. I do not wear this watch often nowadays, could laying around be some kind of explanation? As your and my watch have different movements, I wonder if something generic is the matter. I decided to let it go; if you go to your AD and he is able to explain it, or do something about it, please, let us know. Good luck!
Kind regards, Paul

I didn't understand if the hands kept working or not while the date remained stuck.
Many are the issues could be related to the event you described.
In any case, since the watch is new, I'd take it to the AD to check it out, it's probably a silly thing but I would check anyway.

Roberto, thanks...the hands kept working..it was not stuck..only the date change was halfway or ie half complete.
Have brought it to service center.. who found no apparent issues.. not sure if the guy did even open up and take a look inside...coz my back sticker is still intact.. The lady at the counter told me if i wanted further monitoring i had to leave it there for 10 days! It's a brand new watch and i couldnt bare to part with it so soon..so i brought it back..
Was not too impressed nor reassured...for a first time buyer of an IWC watch..im a little disappointed.

Hi kusash,
you're welcome. I would separate the behaviour the AD kept, which would be common to all other brands - imo, to the quality of the product and the problem you had. I'm not technician but I believe it's a silly thing, anyway it's easy to solve this issue, if ithe problem occurs again, I'd take it for repair (under warranty), if not, it could be simply a one time event that shouldn't lead to further problems.
I think you can start enjoying your new purchase with no further afterthoughts, it's a great watch!

Hey kusah first of all, congratulation on your first IWC. I just got my first today as well ;) Although I'll have to say yours is more iconic or IWCish.
Matter of fact is, you mentioned that the back sticker on your BP is in tact but I bought my brand new IWC just a few hours ago (galapagos) and it did not come with a back sticker. Just a plastic wrap around the watch. Any cause of concern? should I be worried?

Hi Shengyu,
Thanks...i do not think it should be a cause of concern - especially so if you did buy it from an AD. It's just an anal thing... i still have tt sticker behind although I can just tear it off anytime..!!
