Greetings, All!
Just purchased my second IWC, a brand-new Spitfire Mark XV with black dial. Thanks to The Cellar, I have instructions for posting images, so I'll try to put pictures up in the newt few days.
For now, though, a couple of questions.
First, the Spitfire's luminescence, unlike the pure white of my Mark XVI Pilot, has a yellowish, almost greenish tinge. It is something other than the SuperLuminova? Is it Tritium?
Second, the Spitfire, over the course of a month now, consistently loses a little more than a second a day. This is fantastic accuracy, but, as we all know, IWC prides itself on not allowing its watches to run slow. Question: would you have it adjusted ,or would you be content with the slight loss per day?

Donald, congrats on the Spitfire. I would imagine, that at "only a month" it's not settled in yet, and you could find that it "catches" up with time.
But lets' face it - dropping just a second a day makes for some great accuracy in a mechanical watch - and I for one, would not consider having it opened up, for that. I'd rather be a second or two late for a meeting than arriving 7-10 seconds to early. No?

Thanks, Mark!
I'm inclined to agree with your good advice about the watch's running a tiny bit slow. Main thing, it's a consistent variation, a bit more than a second a day. It is my understanding that this extreme consistency in variation is a sign of a well made watch. So I'll not worry about it.
I'll wish you Happy Thanksgiving anyway, even though it is a holiday not celebrated (so far as I am aware) in Europe, except, of course, on American military bases).

Dear Nad:
Wow! Those photos are dazzling! Interesting how the SuperLuminova can differ in shading from model to model; I had no idea. I do envy you your collection of IWC and other watches, which must have taken years to build up.
Being primitive in my computer skills, I'm going to get help from my Significant Other, the long-suffering Nina, in posting some pix of the Spitfire on the Forum website. Please be patient!

Congrats on the Spitfire!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait for pix, LOL!!!!
At -1 sec/day consistently is almost 'dead on' and I would not touch it at all.
Enjoy your watch and don't give the one second another thought ;-)))
Even in modern Luminova, there are different colors that it will glow:
The St-Ex UTC with its Blue'ish tint......................
Carlson Doppel....................................
Non IWC.....................
Cheers,
Nad
