That's two more hints, and if the watch arrives today I'll disclose it.
I was thinking a variant on the Ocean 2000 produced in 1982, but this excludes that possibility...an AT that was less known?

Well, you’re getting warmer –but no one has guessed it.
It is a rare Ref. 3710, of which 150 were made in 1982.
To my knowledge it has all these firsts:
1. It is the first complicated wristwatch from IWC (excluding Porsche Design) 2. It is the first wristwatch from IWC with more than one complication 3. It is the first calendar wristwatch from IWC 4. It is tied as the first moonphase wristwatch from IWC 5. It is the first use of Valjoux movement by IWC (excluding Porsche Design) 6. It is the first individually numbered, limited edition wristwatch from IWC
Ref. 3710 uses a manual wind Valjoux 88 movement, which I understand is an elaborated Valjoux 72 to include the calendar and moon phase. The Valjoux 72 is a famous column wheel chronograph movement, used in the early Rolex Daytonas.

So, I am guessing it was similar to the first outsourced Valjoux 7750 movement, (IWC calibre 790) used in the Porsche Design watches?
