I received a very sad call today from one of our forum friends- at the moment he is in shock and disbelief, but wanted me to put a post on the forum.
This European collector who is a great friend of this forum was robbed of his entire collection of 24 IWC watches, including examples of all the 'Club' watches (Polo, Golf), vintage Aquatimer, Jubilee, and multiple examples of various Pilots during a forced break in of his home. Other items of value were also stolen.
The scum who stole them did not take the Stammbuchauszug or boxes or papers that came with the watches, and we should all be alert to any sales of these watches without these items. The numbers of all the watches are recorded, so there is a record that may be used to match these stolen watches.
The only good news about this is no one was hurt physically, although the emotional toll is difficult.
For now, he has asked me not to name him, but we can all help by being diligent about any IWC watches being sold without boxes/papers/excerpt of the archives.

Sad news indeed. I'll spread the word to my contacts to be alert. Please pass my best wishes of a positive outcome to the fellow forum member and collector. This is why I keep my best IWCs in the bank.
Awful news; terrible news. My suggestion is that our forum friend should make a list and then send to IWC, the local police, all dealers within a radius of where this occurred and major second-hand sellers in the area. I also would suggest visiting the local vintage watch fairs for a few months (there are a few near I believe). These watches will appear again.

How awful. This news certainly puts a chill on the holiday weekend. Just the thought of something like this happening to anyone is appalling. Even if it's only one beloved IWC, that is too many. Hopefully, we can help recover some with vigilance.

Terrible news. I certainly hope that with your help in publicizing the matter, the gentleman will soon receive word that his watches have been recovered and the thief caught.

My heart goes out to him and his family - for the emotional toll and impact to peace of mind is something I hope to not experience. I hope everyone is safe and that this "forced entry" did not happen when they were home.
