So, this week I became the proud owner of a Portuguese PPC. Unfortunately the manual is not there at this moment. However, it's not on correct date anymore, as you can see!. To set the correct date, etc I need the manual. Anybody an idea how to obtain this on short notice, is there a digital manual available somewhere?

Rene -
Congratulations on a great watch - you have fine taste. I have the same watch as well - one of the best features of any IWC Perpetual Calendar is the SIMPLICITY of setting the watch - thanks to the micro-mechanical genius of its design. Everything is operated by the crown.
The manual used to exist on the IWC website in PDF format - I will research and try to locate it for you.
In the meantime.... all you need to do is this:
1. Pull the crown all the way out into "Time Setting Mode" - position #2. The basic crown positions are "position 0 (zero) where the crown is all the way in, and you can wind the watch, position #1 where you can advance the date, and position #2 where you change the time)
2. With crown in Position #2, Advance the time forward by turning the crown counter-clockwise until the time advances past mid-night and you see/hear all the calendar functions (day, date, moonphase...) advance - and continue advancing the time until you have the hour/minutes reading about 6:00am. (I recommend this step so as to make sure you're not attempting to advance the date of the watch while the watch is already in "calendar advance mode" which may occur between 9:00PM and 2:00AM)
3. Put the crown into position #1, with the watch reading the time around 6:00am - turn the crown counter-clockwise - it will "click" and you will notice that you can advance the date, one day at a time by turning the crown counter-clockwise, click by click you will need to do that nearly 500 times until you get to today (assuming that the photo you posted is of your watch currently displaying 15 JUNE, 2009).
*** You may want to stop at 31 DEC 2009 and pull the crown into position #2 and advance the time forward to simulate the dawn of 2010 and watch your 4-digit year display advance. I also think that it may be safe to advance the new year this way - I have not heard of someone using the quick-advance date past new year's eve before - just to be cautious....
4. Pay attention to the date, do not go past 3 DEC 2010 - you cannot set the date backwards.
5. When you get to 3 DEC, 2010 - make sure your watch reads FRI, 3 DEC, 2010 and the moonphase is about 2 days prior to "new moon".
6. Pull the crown out to position #2 and set the time to your local time.

Dear both,
Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I really appreciate this!! Actually this magnificent watch was a gift from an old friend who recently passed away. He triggered my interest and love for these beautiful time pieces. It is a bit strange, the world up-side-down, starting my collection with this watch, to take care for it, keep his memory alive. Enno is always in my thoughts.

Congratulations owning this watch. I own it too, as far as I know there are three owners of this version in the Netherlands right now: probably a 5021 density like nowhere else in the world. Enjoy!
Kind regards, Paul

Thanks, Rene

The instruction manuals have not been online since the change in the IWC web site back in August.
I do have a copy of the pdf file for the Ref 5021 and I've uploaded it here:
