Gents, I am now hopefully the proud owner of this "little" pockets watch which the DYIWC utility lists as follows: The movement is a Sav. calibre 64, dating from the year 1893 - The case was most probably produced resp. delivered around 1892.
So it has an engraving stating "BARRACLOUCH & SONS 54 BRIGATTE LEEDS " - which on some study is confirmed as a registered Silversmith at that same address in the UK at that time (registered Hallmark photo is attached).
My question is simple: What is the relevance of this Engraving? Where they the original "reseller" of the watch (I am awaiting the extract from Schaffhausen)? The case bears the Probus Fusia markings, so was probably not made by BARRACLOUCH & SONS (I still need to receive the watch to check the current 18K hallmark - probably will be the Swiss one).
Any other info on the small (33mm) watch is appreciated.
Your half-hunter had Barraclouch as the first retailer of the watch. The archives may or may not disclose that if the watch was sold to a distributor (like Stauffer).
I have an IWC calibre 52, IWC movement marked with S&Co and Peerless, Charles Nicolet case that is also marked "Z. BARRACLOUGH & SONS LEEDS" but unlike your marking, there is no address.
When I originally did some research on Barraclough and the following was all I could find:

Great watch Mark maybe I should get a pocket watch myself too. I am not really a vintage guy but pocket watches are at the back of my mind for some time now. Enjoy your pretty watch.

Argiris, be warned....do not venture lightly into this arena!!!!!
It's a virus that multiplies itself quickly - and before you know it, you will have been smitten by it, and show all the acute symptoms of an IWC Pocket Watch fanatic.
I am sure, that MF can give you a small "starters" suggestion as to where to begin on this journey, or failing that simply follow your heart and start with one that tickles your fancy.
Best regards Mark ps: I spend sometimes many weeks/months in trying to find matching gold (correct color) fob chains for a a particular pocket watch - for me, it's part of the chase!
