I know that 2011 will be the year of the Portofino - but I am still hopeful that a variant or two in other lines will manage to be introduced.
It was over a year ago that I originally posted this wish - for a DaVinci, Ref 3762 Perpetual calendar with black cermic case - a monochromatic, matte, non-reflective dial with titanium hands that offer a playfully "phantom-like" high-tech appeal - but just enough contrast for readability.
The black rubber strap also makes this combination very sporty and durable - a lightweight, complicated - and hauntingly handsome icon.
When I originally posted this about 13 months ago - It definitely was a "flop of the forum" - I don't recall a single positive comment from members - LOL!! Most seemed to feel it was "too trendy"- but I thought the recent fondness of the "phantom-like" Big Pilot LA Edition with dark blue is an indication of an attitude change? Any takers?

Well, IWC came half way your wish by producing the Da Vinci Chrono Ceramic IW376601. Not totally stealthy, no perpetual calendar, but ceramic and titanium everywhere. And the nice 89360 movement. Don't you like it?
Kind regards, Paul

Well, to be honest, I think it can be a great watch. However the examples given, perhaps not reflect what it can actually look like and therefore took the liberty to do some photo shopping. Just have to change the hands a bit, but still........

Richard...I find this proposed Da Vinci more appealing with Rene's photoshop "update." I love the moonphase complication, and the addition of gold tint for the moon made it for me! You now have one comment supporting your vision of a new Da Vinci!!! LOL!
Best regards, Jim

Hope you don't mind.

Rene -
Incredible job - your execution of this idea is great. I really like the clarity.
My preference would be to use the "Ardoise" moonphase disc from the white gold 5022 - rather than the rose-gold one - and the "high-tech" strap from the current Ceramic DaVinci Chrono would probably look great on this one too - what do you think?

Rene !!!
Wow. This is the best-looking "fantasy watch"!! I think this is superb. Thanks for all the Photoshop work - I've been posting from my iPhone here, so my Photoshop and FTP apps on this phone are not up to this task.
I like the lack of color for this watch- that was my point on this. Not that I want it to be like a Pilot's Watch - but there are other IWC's with color.
You could always opt for a strap with red, or blue stitching??

Anyway.........
Even if it will never see the light of days, it's still a nice thought...
Ouch, I see the result is not perfect. Sorry for that.
