Winter time has come, the bike is under the blanket. Time to think about the ultimate watch! If there is one? So, if you would design a new IWC, what would be your preferred shape?

Rene, this subject has been bandied about the Forum from time to time. And in all honesty, there is no real hard answer to your question.
The choice of "shape" is highly personal, and one really needs to "follow your heart" so to speak. Having said that, I've always previously maintained that only round watches appealed to me. Then, the Collectors Forum Da Vinci (CFDV) was issued, and I was one of the lucky ones to be able to get. Coming in at 43.1mm x 51mm it's certainly not a small watch - however, I must tell you that it wears wonderfully well, and because of it I've realized that Round in not particularly always Right! .....and that other shaped watches definitely have an appeal.
My advice, go down to the local IWC AD, and try various watches on the writst - including the Da Vinci - you might find that you are surprised.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your reply. Since I'm quit new here, I didn't knew this, although I assumed that this kind of topics will be banned for some reason? Actually, I started this tread just to try to design something for fun.

I stay with my design proposal of a few weeks ago. With cutting, pasting, deleting and supplementing you get this.
My dream watch has a special rectangular case, with a very elegant structure. The case material is yellow gold, making the watch look a bit mild and subdued. The size of the case is 45 mm x 35 mm, and it is 10 mm thick. The watch shows only time, with a small seconds hand. It has a beautiful rectangular movement, making it possible to put the small seconds hand near the lower edge. It can be admired through a sapphire back. The dial is a whitish cream. The indexes are of yellow gold and pointed towards the centre. It has classic yellow gold dauphine hands. The watch has a light brown alligator strap with a tang buckle. Of course, a watch like this is for sale already.
Kind regards, Paul, wearing steel VC Portuguese, no mean design either
What you do may not be so important, but it is very important that you do it well. (my variation of a saying by Gandhi)

Hi Rene,
My contribution was part of "Our 2010 Gala Holiday Drawing!" from earlier this month, it should be easy to find. The watch that inspired me obviously is no IWC, so I cannot send you a link of it here. I really would like it if IWC had its beautiful version of it, but I think this will not happen. And the original is difficult to beat.
And as for me, every call for a fantasy challenge is welcome, and great fun.
Kind regards, Paul, wearing steel VC Portuguese, no external challenge needed here
