I wonder if the Aquatimer movement of the 2000s with 37,524 the rotor is 21 carat gold, or just gold plated. On some magazines say that solid gold, but here on the Forum archive someone says no. That is the truth?
The older versions of the ETA 2892 movements used by IWC had gold plating. Even then, gold sold for about 800 USD an ounce, and that would have made the movement and the watch extraordinarily expensive, with no benefit of increased performance nor appearance.
