Hi Michael
When will the forum special previews of the SIHH 2011 novelties debut here in this unique place. Although IWC have moved to Facebook I hope that the collectors who use the forum will have some precedence for previews and pre-news.

The preview this year is on Facebook. On the IWC Facebook Site you now see the oficial introduction of the new Portofino and the pictures: http://www.facebook.com/#!/IWCWatches
Actually, what you say about Facebook is incorrect.
What you saw yesterday was someone who broke the embargo posting on Facebook. You, and other sites, then decided to carry out the news on your own.
Then, today IWC decided to publish the same news on Facebook and this forum. Only problem was that, with the time difference, The authorizing email reached me in the middle of the night, so I couldn't do it simultaneously. Nor was I in any hurry given the fact that you had already posted the images here.
I have more information on the Portofino hand wound: movement details, photos, etc. You might even learn and see that first here if and when I get around to posting. However, given people who see things on one site and post them elsewhere, I need to put copyright legends on them, etc.
There are of course other new models. And the preview of them will not be first on Facebook "this year" as you have pronounced with certainty, since they haven't been previewed anywhere. However, again, I cannot guarantee anyone of simultaneous posting due to time differences, my other commitments, travel to Geneva, etc.

Thanks Michael...we will look forward to the preview once you've been authorized and time permits the posting. I have always found the official preview on this forum to be the definitive "first look" at the IWC novelties for any given year.

If you check on the German forum, the issue is discussed by Alexander Linz.
I would like to say more, but I will say that I always respect decisions made by IWC.
