Hi, hmm, your budget might be a bit of a problem...I do not think there is any vintage watch that would correspond to your frame...the only one might be a portofino automatic (very classic model, see above in the collection), which is Switzerland costs about 3'500 francs that are more or less equal to 2'000 pounds... good luck.. You can find a really nice calibre 89 hand wound from the 1950s/60s at that price point, and possibly also some calibre 85xx automatics from that era. The problem is that dealers in central London can be very costly. Try browsing on New Bond Street and also the Net. We can't recommend specific dealers here since we're non-commercial.

Thank you so much for your response, is much appreciated!
Someone has recommended Burlington Arcade to me, so I will make a start there. I have also found a couple I like on the Net, but am a little unsure of how to gauge authenticity. Is there anything you can recommend I should look out for?

Hi again, following your advice and took a trip to New Bond St today- found one or two pieces, including a gold calibre 422 with a White face and black roman numerals. I was told the date is around 1965.
Please forgive my ignorance, but should I stick to looking at the 85/89s? I have read your article on the 85, and seen various others on the 85/89s, but none as yet on the 422.
I am looking to buy a vintage IWC watch for my boyfriend who already has a modern IWC, but have no idea where to start looking!
He wants something classic, round face (preferably white) with a black leather strap he can wear to dinner. My budget is between £1000 and £2000.
I am based in London, so can visit anywhere central.
Any tips on trustworthy dealers/models to look out for/prices to expect would be much appreciated!
