Second time at the SIHH, I thought it couldn’t have been better than last year, it was.
Just some brief comments about what to me represent the salient aspects.
IWC booth Once again, the most beautiful, developed around a bold concept, it came alive, you could see people entering the environment, being lifted inside a particular atmosphere, kind of magic. There was not a comparable ambient elsewhere the whole fair.
IWC watches New movements, new variations around the classic theme of the Portofino line. Simple shapes, sharply reinvented, there’s no need of crystal ball to envision a great success for this collection.
IWC Management Representatives Very close to collectors, I must admit I wasn’t expecting such a careful attention. We really had the chance to get in contact with several brilliant minds working at IWC, sharing ideas, opinions, deepening our knowledge about what’s going on. More than this, it was established a stronger link with them, going beyond formalism, feeling part, maybe just for few hours but still vivid, of the same team. I feel the need to say thank you to all of them.
George Kern George Kern gave us the privilege to spend some time together. What’ll never end to positively surprise me about this man, is his clear vision, his determination, transpiring through his words, his energy and dynamism. He’s actually facing a triple challenge, being in charge of managing IWC, B&M and Roger Dubuis, I really wish him the best bringing RD to the levels this maison deserves, being more than sure about IWC’s prosperity and success for the future.
The Master We had the honor to meet the Master Kurt Klaus, he came also at the collectors dinner where many of us had the chance to learn some incredible stories about his life and the watches he contributed to create. It feels lucky just sitting close to him.
Stefan Ihnen I had the pleasure to meet him also. Few talks but it’s always interesting to share some impressions and listening to some technical comments by such a talented man, I had the chance to express my appreciation to him for having designed chrono caliber 89360.
Michael Friedberg No words can probably express what Michael represents to this Community, I’ll try to say it in just one world: Mirabilis, latin word for Extraordinary. I must admit I attend this forum because I like IWC watches but also because Michael is the moderator. During the whole time spent together, he simply acted as he constantly acts in this forum, he dedicated his time to us, being always careful to our expectations, helping us out in any circumstance. I think I’ll always find talking to him an incredibly enriching experience. Thank you Michael!
IWC Forumers It was a honor to be part of this representation, I want to spend a comment for each one of them.
Alan: you brought me almost to commotion man! I will take that Chicago Cubs shirt you gifted me as a witness of the fond moments spent together, now I can only pray for the Cubs to win the World Series, hopefully before the end of this century! Give Bonnie a kiss for me, please.
Antonio: if I had a bigger brother, I’d wish he was like you.
Bill: pillar of the forum, master of photography, one of these days that watch is going to be yours, I know! :)
Argiris: come on! Ti voglio bene.
Dimitris: you could almost touch his passion, affable talker and a gentleman. Dimitris, after I met Argiris, I had a doubtful estimation for greek collectors, thank you for making me reconsider this. LOL
KS Low: No matter the distance, same people get together. You faced a long journey to meet your fellows, this says a lot about your passion. I always loved the idea of having new IWC friends at any latitude, you surely found one at this coordinates: Lon. 12° 29′ 00″ E - Lat. 41° 53′ 35″ N.
Mark: first time we met, I felt like it was not. Since the beginning, you’ve helped team spirit growing, mainly thanks to your effort, we managed to realize something to keep and remember for the tenth year of the forum, thank you!
Nad: if you were a soccer player, you’d play number 10 (kind of quarter back for football) a champion, always smiling, sharing your passion with sympathy and respect for the others. Nad, forever IWC ambassador!
All: I keep on reading the dedications you wrote in my catalogue, I cannot stop having a stupid smile on my face.

Thank you my brother, for taking the time to provide this eloquent overview of the SIHH experience. Your ability to express the emotional as well as your sensory observations made me feel like I was there!
Best regards, Jim

Oh my! I forgot to say I had the honor to meet, first time in my life, Hannes Pantli!
Would you believe it? A silly guy who knows nothing about watches meeting and talking (in perfect Italian) with the man who saved IWC? If you are invited at the IWC collector’s meeting everything becomes possible.
I was definitely intimidated by the man but then he started talking so agreeably and telling so interesting stories, I quickly forgot my fears and started enjoying the conversation.
Thank you Mr. Pantli, despite my omission in the former post, I’ll never forget the time spent together!

Roberto. Just arrived home and this is the first post I read on the forum. All I can say is that the days spent with this group are exactly as you describe. It is a great privilege and pleasure to be a part of it. The IWC representatives were as gracious and friendly as anyone can imagine and added immeasurably to the experience. All I can say is that it was wonderful to feel as if I was actually part of the company. And as Roberto stated it is MF who makes this forum go. We are very lucky in this regard. The future of IWC looks great and the Forum in its' new format will grow with time. Thanks to all who made the time spent so worthwhile. And thanks Bill for your great companionship during our travels.
