Dear all
can you please help me to find out the model name of the IWC showing on the photo? There is a garantee certificate from December 1949 with no. 72845/1187582 I would be interested in knowing model name, approx. market value, if it's possible and worth to restore (second hand is running sometimes and sometimes not!) Your help is much appreciated!
Back then, virtually all models didn't have names but often are identified by type of movement used. But you can browse many of the vintage catalogs by Googling "IWC Vintage Catalog Project" and see if you can find something similar. Or post photos here.
One caution: the numbers don't make sense. The second number sounds about right for a case or movement number circa 1949, but the other is way off. Hopefully you don't have what we call a "marriage": a watch hobbled together by someone outside the factory using some real parts.

Hi Michael
thanks for your answer! I will try to find it in the catalog. I have already uploaded photos. You will find them by clicking the links in my question (sorry, I forgot to enter a text for the link!) Maybe this will give you an idea what model it could be...
Got it -thanks. The watch is clearly authentic. It us most likely a "Calibre 88" watch, although it could have the earlier Calibre 83 movement.
The value might be 2000 USD, perhaps 3000 USD if restored well and depending on size. The seconds hand could be fixed by any competent watchmaker; a complete overhaul if desired should be done by IWC. They can make the watch look almost like new, and the cost which might be between 700 to perhaps 1200 USD would depend on what is needed and what you desire.
Others might disagree on pricin;; we can't appraise here, let alone without seeing the watch.
