First, welcome to the IWC Forum and congratulations of your IWC 3717. It is a great start of what likely will be many more IWC to come.
Second, yes you can wind the watch manually as well as having it wind via the rotor while wearing it. The movement has a clutch mechanism so it cannot be overwound.

Enjoy you new IWC in good health.
thanks for the warm welcome, and the answer to my question. I'm pretty sure i will own more IWC watches in the future, especially the portuguese Chrono black dial in Rose gold is a real beauty.

Warm welcome,
my humble suggestion is use the crown to wound up the movement as an infrequent procedure, since the reverers of an automatic movement are weaker than those mounted in a hw movement. in the long run, this may cause troubles.

Getting ready to purchase a Mark XVI-Pilot and would like to know if the same information/procedures regarding manual winding are also applicable to the "Mark"?

I also have just received a 3717 and I also was given a Heiden watch winder. I can't seem to get the settings right on the winder so that the watch continues to be wound even when I am not wearing it. Any suggestions?
It has a few different settings, some that wind only clockwise, some that do both clockwise and counter clockwise and another that only goes counterclockwise.
i'm new on this forum and i arrived because i have received an 3717 chronograph as a gift.
I would like to know if this watch which has the auto movement can be wound manually or does it only charge with the kinetics?
Aditionally i would like to know where i can find a manual for this watch.
Thanks, Xavier.
