The night before our big day at SIHH, the nine invited English Forum members and MF celebrated with a dinner in old city Geneva. The IWC Central Region Sales Manager from Texas, Chris Riggs, joined us for the evening as well.
As you know, 2011 is the tenth anniversary of the IWC Collectors’ Forum. We took time to congratulate MF on his dedicated service to us and to the whole IWC collecting community. There are no words to describe our appreciation for his support and hard work, not only for the Collectors, but also for IWC itself. There is no better or more knowledgeable moderator and we are lucky to have him on our team. In a following post in a few days, I will share some photos of the special recognition ceremony that evening.
This relaxing evening gave us time to meet fellow Forum members and to share our passion for IWC. A few attendees were invited to SIHH for the first time and we were very happy to met them and put a face to the name. Of course, there was plenty of time to show off the IWC’s we brought to Geneva. Nad, Alan Ross, and Mark Levinsohn shared their new acquisitions much to the delight of the attendees. Tony Gomes also had a new (to him) /old IWC to show everyone. Pictures of each of these are below.
The first thing we noticed as everyone arrived is that four members wore their Collectors’ Forum DaVinci. Is this the first time four were together at one time?
Now for the newly acquired IWC’s:
Nad’s BP Perpetual Calendar, double moon phase, which he picked up just that day at the Geneva Boutique.
Not to be outdone, Alan Ross brought his Los Angeles Edition BP. The blue hands are quite stunning as you can see. Worn by Mark.
Mark just had to show off Nad’s BPPC as well.
Not to be outdone, Mark Levinsohn shared his one day old Blue dial PPC. This one has been a favorite of mine since last year’s SIHH, when it was introduced. It is in very short supply and Mark is one of the very lucky few to have one.
Now for a really Big Pilot wrist shot; I added my 5002 to the new BP’s.
Tony Gomes, recently picked up the old c. 89 with a cloisonné dial. I believe it is from the 1940’s, if I recall.
Here are some group shots of the evening before we sat down for a wonderful dinner in a typical Swiss restaurant, Les Armures.
It turns out Roberto is a big Chicago Cubs fan and Ryne Sandberg in particular. Alan brought over a very special gift for him.
This was K.S. Low’s first visit to Europe and what a special trip it is for him.
Once again, I must thank MF for inviting me to this special event. It is an honor to attend and have the opportunity to connect with fellow Collectors’ Forum members. Thanks as well to IWC for continuing to support its collectors via this forum as well as allowing us to come to SIHH to see the 2011 Novelties and meet with the key executives in IW

Bill, looks like a wonderful start to a great time. Getting together with other like-minded people in the IWC fold is always a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing.

Great pictures Bill. One of the best parts of the forum is meeting new people and reconnecting with great friends. This was no exception. It is always a great pleasure to talk watches with other collectors. Special thanks to our moderator mirabilis, Michael Friedberg who always sets the proper tone for this forum.
Bill, it's clear that we had a blast. Thanks for your fun report.
You should know that others must have perceived the great time we had. Two people e-mailed me today after your post, asking to be put on the list for 2012. Other than being way too early, there's complex criteria for that. People who bought CFDVs were (and will be) invited first, then there's forum participation and geographic diversity. We want to have people from many countries and a mixture of newbies and old-timers, as well as vintage and contemporary fans.
It's a great time we have, and those interested in joining should be especially supportive of this great forum.

A wonderful time indeed. Thanks Michael and IWC for providing the opportunity for IWC collectors, of new and vintage IWCs, to get together and to get a first hand look at the new IWCs. PS: The rose gold watch with cal. 89, cloisonné dial hippocampus motif, is from December 1949.

If you managed to get any photos of the food, I'd love to see them. I bet it was wonderful!
Great watches all around. I would imagine there are a lot of drooled on keyboards right about now.
