Sweden
Hi Folks, I am brand new to the world of watches and IWC. I have in my posession a family heirloom that I am concidering repairing so that my son who turns 1 tomorrow will get it when he turns 21. I will use it until then. I have had the watch in at the Swedish IWC official watchmaker and whie he said that it is a nice old watch he could or would not tell me what it is worth. However the repare of the watch would be around €1500. I do not expect anyone here to tell me what the watch is worth, and that is not really the reason of repairing it as I will not sell it anyhow. But maybe you can comfort me by saying that the €1500 is well spent anyway. Back to the watch. I have posted a couple of pictures in a hope that someone might tell me something about the dial. It is black and with the numbers 12, 3, 6 and 9. The hands have flourescent material in them and the digits are also with iluminating flouresent. On the inside the movement is marked with c 8521 and the ref. nr on the movement is 1326545 and the number on the back of the case is1343203. In reference to the dial I have not found any pictures of this dial anywhere. It seems that from this era the silver dials are more common and the ingeneur logo is also more common. If anyone can shed some more light on this watch I would be very grateful. Also do IWC repair these old watches in Schaffhausen? How does one get in contact with them? I sent an e-mail, but have not received a reply.
I hope you can now see a photo of the dial by copying the adress here. Many thanks in advance for any help whatsoever.
Here is your photo. I don't know why your post is not working. Use the green check mark at the top of the message box to preview you post and see if the picture is posted correctly.
I don't recall seeing your dial before, but have you checked the vintage catalogs? Just Google "IWC Vintage Catalog project" and you'll get there.
1500 GBP seems very expensive to me. I would have Schaffhausen do the work; it might cost close to as much (but probably not as much) and they can make the watch as new. One way to get hold of them is through an authorized dealer. Or check the main office for the UK outside of London (which also has a repair facility I believe but vintage renovations need to go to Schaffhausen).

Cheers, Thanks for the help. I am having a bit of trouble sendng it to IWC. But I will definately get it done. It seems very interesting that I can not find this dial anywhere. I am no expert, but I have done quite a lot of searching and not found anything. That is why i really want it sent down to Switzerland. I see you are based in Australia. No where near Cairns I hope?? I am Australian, but live in Sweden. My father has just gone up to our hose in Cairns to batten down the hatches. I have a long day ahead of me as he is alone in the bunker and the cyclone looks like being a big one. Thaks for your help and I will keep you posted on the life of my watch.
I suspect your watch is just the black dialed version of one of the reference models shown above. Not all models or dial variations were shown in the catalogues which makes finding the exact watch difficult.
No, thankfully I'm not in northern Queensland, I'm about as far south without having to cross Bass Strait to Tasmania.

IWC References Before 1974
I suspect it is a black dialed version of either Reg 347 AD or 348 AD.
